Description

Imperial I-class Star Destroyer is a space destroyer from the Star Wars universe, fighting in the ranks of the Galactic Empire. He first appeared on the screen in the movie “Star Wars: A New Hope” (I or IV part of the saga). The ship has extensive on-board weapons, including, among others, laser cannons and ion cannons. It is also able to carry several dozen TIE fighters and related ships as well as AT-AT and AT-ST walkers. The length of the vehicle was up to 1,600 meters. The drive is provided by seven ion motors. Imperial I-class space destroyers were designed at the Kuat Driver Yards and were initially manufactured there. They were commissioned during the Clone Wars in 19 BBY and later serve primarily in the Galactic Empire against the Rebellion as the primary heavy ship of its fleet. Their main task was to act as flagship units in strike teams, artillery combat with large enemy ships, but also to act as a base ship for ground attacks on foreign planets led by stormtrooper units and walking machines.
